Woden Community Service (WCS) is hiring for a MH Recovery Worker for The Way Back Support Service in the ACT region. The role focuses on recovery-focused, non-clinical aftercare support for individuals transitioning from hospital and crisis services, with outreach across the ACT.

Based from Phillip office, the role involves community outreach, goal setting, and navigating services to promote recovery. Includes supervision and development opportunities within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV or higher in Mental Health, Community Services, Peer Work, AOD, or related field.
• Experience supporting people with mental health challenges or psychosocial distress.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work autonomously within a supportive team.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred outreach support across the ACT community.
• Build trusting relationships with participants after a suicidal crisis.
• Help participants identify goals and access needed services and supports.
• Collaborate with mental health, housing, health, AOD, and community services providers.
• Complete assessments, safety planning, case notes, and reporting.

Join our Way Back Support Service team and support people as they recover and reconnect with their community following a suicidal crisis.

The Way Back Support Service provides recovery-focused, non-clinical aftercare support to people transitioning from hospital and crisis services back into everyday life. Based from our Phillip office, you will work across the ACT, providing outreach support to participants in community settings and helping them navigate services, strengthen social connections, and achieve their recovery goals.

About the Role

Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to:

• Provide person-centred outreach support across the ACT community.
• Build trusting relationships with participants following a suicidal crisis.
• Support individuals to identify goals and access the services and supports they need.
• Work collaboratively with mental health, housing, health, AOD, and community service providers.
• Complete assessments, safety planning, case notes, and reporting requirements.
• Deliver support using recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approaches.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

Experience and Qualifications:

• A Certificate IV or higher qualification in Mental Health, Community Services, Peer Work, AOD, or a related field.
• Experience supporting people experiencing mental health challenges, psychosocial distress, or complex needs.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a supportive team environment.

To be eligible for employment, you must have an active Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) Card, working rights in Australia, and be willing to undertake background checks required for the position, including a National Police Check.
