Job summary

OnSite Recruitment’s client is seeking a hands-on Sign Fabrication Operator based in Thomastown. You’ll prepare materials, operate workshop machinery, and assemble civil, traffic and safety signage in line with Australian standards.

Join a small, supportive production team. You’ll read technical drawings, run CNC equipment, perform quality checks and keep production paperwork up to date while prioritising safety and reliability in a busy workshop.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years’ experience in fabrication, manufacturing or similar production environment.
• The ability to confidently read and understand technical drawings, including dimensions, tolerances and material requirements.
• Experience following established procedures and contributing to or preparing work instructions.
• Good written and numerical skills for completing production documentation and records.
• A strong focus on workplace safety, quality workmanship and reliability.
• The physical ability to perform manual handling duties, including lifting up to 20 kg, prolonged standing and repetitive work.
• Full Australian working rights.

Responsibilities

• Operate a range of workshop machinery and fabrication equipment, including drop saws, CNC machines, benders, brake presses, Henrob riveting equipment, laminators, grinders and engraving equipment.
• Interpret engineering and fabrication drawings, checking dimensions, specifications and design files before commencing production.
• Manufacture products accurately and consistently, carrying out quality checks throughout the production process.
• Work closely with a small and supportive production team, pitching in across different tasks when required.
• Keep an eye on material usage and communicate stock or replenishment requirements to the Supply Chain Team Lead.
• Maintain accurate production paperwork, shift records and equipment maintenance logs.
• Contribute to a safe and organised workplace by participating in toolbox meetings, reporting hazards, wearing required PPE and maintaining good 3S housekeeping standards.

• Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication Trade) or an equivalent trade qualification.
