Job summary

National Joblink in Rockhampton is seeking a dedicated Mentor to support young people aged 15-24, helping them build confidence, life skills and make positive education and employment choices.

You will work in a fixed-term, full-time role until 31 October 2028, collaborating with a small team to deliver pre-employment support, engage with local community services and advocate for participants to relevant referrals.

Are you passionate about helping young people reach their full potential, building confidence and develop new skills to enhance their journey into the workforce.

Our Transition to Work (TtW) program is designed to help young people aged 15-24 into work (including apprenticeships and training) or education.

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate MENTOR, who inspires others to GROW in new directions, FOCUS on the positive, LISTENS with empathy, SUPPORT and GUIDE young people in achieving their personal educational career goals.

You will work directly with youth to build confidence, develop life skills and encourage positive decision making.

Transition to Work helps young people aged 15-24 into work (including apprenticeships and training) or education. Transition to Work participants receive intensive, pre-employment support to develop practical skills to get a job, connect with education or training, find local job opportunities and connect with relevant local community services.

This role is Full time – Fixed term Contract until 31 October 2028, located at Rockhampton.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• A genuine passion for youth development and empowerment.
• A genuine desire to assist participants to achieve their education and employment goals.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable, empathetic, and a positive role model.
• Understand and have a demonstrated knowledge of the local cohort.
• Ability to advocate on behalf of participants to referral services.
• Build relationships with community organisations and stakeholders.
• Exceptionally good time management skills to balance administration with participant engagement.
• Work well in a small team to build creative solutions and achieve combined KPI's.
• Sound digital literacy skills utilising different software platforms for reporting as well as Microsoft 365 (Word/Excel & Outlook)
