Job summary

Grand Pacific Health Ltd in Canberra is seeking a psychologist to deliver focused psychological interventions to young people aged 12–25 referred to headspace Canberra. You will collaboratively identify goals with the young person and family, and develop care plans, using evidence-based strategies.

Qualifications

• Current registration with AHPRA as Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist/Provisional Psychologist or OTA-credentialed Occupational Therapist, or social work with AASW accreditation.
• Experience with mental health assessment and diagnosis; CBT and other evidence-based focused strategies.
• Understanding health needs of young people; substance use considerations.
• Ability to engage effectively with young people, families and friends.
• Strong computer literacy and capacity to learn clinical software.

Job description

This is a full-time fixed term role (38 hpw) up to 30 July 2027 with a possibility of extension due to ongoing funding.

You will work collaboratively with a young person and their family to identify their support needs, goals and develop collaborative care plans. You will provide high quality psycho-social assessment and evidence-based, focused psychological interventions to young people aged 12 to 25 referred to headspace Canberra.

Duties

• Provide evidence-based, focused psychological strategies

• Maintain accurate case notes using electronic clinical records

Skills & Experience

• Current AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Provisional Psychologist, or Occupational Therapist (accredited with OTA as meeting the Australian Competency Standards in mental health) or qualifications in social work and has (or willing to work towards) accreditation with the AASW as a Mental Health Social Worker
• Experience in assessment and diagnosis of mental health disorders, provision of Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy and other evidence-based focused psychological strategies.
• Demonstrated understanding of key issues in relation to the health and wellbeing needs of young people with mental health and/or substance use problems.
• Demonstrated ability to engage and communicate effectively with young people, and their family and friends.
• High standard of computer literacy and data entry competency including MS office and demonstrated capacity to learn new technologies including clinical software packages.
