Archmap Group in Melbourne is seeking a reliable Site Carpenter to join our construction team across Melbourne. This is a site-based role focused on day-to-day carpentry, minor repairs and site upkeep, ensuring work aligns with project drawings.

The ideal candidate has hands-on carpentry experience, can read drawings, holds a White Card, has a current driver licence, and can work effectively with site teams to keep projects on track.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-Day Carpentry: Carry out general carpentry, fixing, minor repairs, defect rectification, make-good works and finishing tasks across construction sites.
• Site Support & Upkeep: Assist with routine site checks and general site upkeep, keeping work areas safe, tidy and organized.
• Task Follow-Up & Close-Out: Take ownership of assigned carpentry and minor site works, ensuring tasks are completed properly and followed through to close-out.
• Site Communication: Communicate effectively with site workers, subcontractors, suppliers and project team members to coordinate day-to-day works.
• Progress Updates: Take site photos, provide straightforward progress updates and report any issues requiring further attention.
• Quality & Workmanship: Complete all work to an appropriate standard and in accordance with project drawings, instructions and site requirements.

Job description

Archmap Group is seeking a reliable, practical and hands-on Site Handyman / Maintenance Carpenter to support our construction projects across Sydney.

This site-based role combines small carpentry jobs with general maintenance, minor repairs, defect rectification, make-good works and finishing tasks.

We are looking for someone with broad maintenance skills who can assess problems, complete repairs independently and take ownership of assigned tasks. Practical knowledge of common plumbing and electrical maintenance issues is also required.

Key Responsibilities

Carpentry and Repairs: Complete minor carpentry, door and cabinet adjustments, hardware repairs, general fixing and finishing works.

General Maintenance: Carry out wall patching, paint touch-ups, sealing, minor installations and make-good works.

Plumbing and Electrical Maintenance: Identify common faults, report issues and coordinate repairs with qualified tradespeople. Undertake regulated work only where appropriately licensed or registered and within the authorised scope.

Defect Rectification: Review defect lists, identify suitable repair methods and follow outstanding tasks through to completion.

Site Support and Upkeep: Conduct routine checks and keep work areas safe, tidy and organised.

Quality and Safety: Complete work to a satisfactory standard, following drawings, site instructions and safe working practices.

What We Are Looking For

Solid hands-on experience in carpentry, handyman work, building maintenance or construction repairs.

Practical carpentry skills and the ability to complete small repairs independently.

Experience across a range of maintenance tasks, including patching, painting, sealing and hardware repairs.

Working knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems, common maintenance faults and when specialist assistance is required.

Ability to assess problems, select suitable materials and deliver neat, lasting repairs.

Ability to read basic construction drawings and follow site instructions.

A reliable, organised and flexible approach, with good attention to detail.

Willingness to handle varied, small and sometimes repetitive maintenance tasks.

Relevant carpentry qualifications and practical on-site experience.

A valid Australian White Card.

A reliable personal vehicle for travelling between sites.

Own tools suitable for carpentry and general maintenance.

Full working rights in Australia.

Appropriate NSW licences or registrations for any regulated electrical or plumbing work undertaken.

Experience in residential construction, handover defects or property maintenance.

Relevant electrical or plumbing qualifications and current NSW licences or registrations.
