Job summary

Labcabs in Sydney is seeking a Medical Courier driver to transport time-critical, temperature-controlled biological specimens and sensitive life sciences products across the Sydney metropolitan area and regional work.

You will handle urgent pickups and deliveries, maintain strict temperature-control and safety protocols, complete chain-of-custody documentation, and support warehouse duties as required.

Responsibilities

• Transport time-critical, temperature-sensitive products to customers per dispatch instructions.
• Secure goods to prevent damage during transport.
• Supervise loading/unloading to prevent cargo damage.
• Obtain signatures to confirm receipt of correct goods.
• Complete manifests, chain of custody forms, and tracking documents.
• Plan routes considering traffic and weather to ensure timely deliveries.
• Notify dispatch of issues, cargo damage, or vehicle breakdowns.
• Handle dangerous goods like dry ice per WHS compliance.
• Assist with warehouse duties as required.

Job description

This is a Medical Courier driver role delivering time critical, temperature controlled biological specimens and sensitive life sciences products across the Sydney metropolitan area and regional work. You'll handle urgent pickups and deliveries, maintain strict temperature-control and safety protocols and ensure accurate chain of custody documentation.

Engagement:Full Time Employee (company van available for all operational duties) and Independent Contractor position available (required min 1 tonne late model van, ABN + Appropriate insurances)

Hourly Rates to be discussed pending Employee / Contractor Position and Previous Experience.

Key responsibilities

• Transport time critical, temperature sensitive products safely to customers, following delivery instructions provided by company dispatchers
• Correctly secure goods for transportation to prevent damages and accidents
• Supervise all loading and unloading procedures to prevent cargo damage from unsafe handling or negligence
• Obtain customers' signatures after each delivery to confirm receipt of correct goods in correct quantity
• Complete manifests, chain of custody forms, and tracking documentation
• Plan travel routes, taking into account road construction, traffic congestion, and difficult weather conditions, to ensure timely deliveries
• Promptly notify dispatch of any collection / delivery issues, cargo damage, and vehicle breakdowns
• Safe handling of dangerous goods, including but not limited to dry ice, in accordance with WHS compliance regulations
• Assist with warehouse duties as required

About you

• Previous experience with collection, packing and labelling of biological / clinical trial samples across dry ice, chilled and ambient temperature ranges is Essential
• Strong punctuality and professional accountability
• Flexibility for varied shifts, including weekdays, weekends, mornings, evenings and on-call work on a rotating roster
