Job summary

CAF Rail Australia in Dubbo is seeking a Mechanical Warranty Technician to ensure smooth operation of regional rail vehicle corrective maintenance, aligned with CAF policies and Work Health and Safety guidelines. You will report to the Warranty Manager and contribute to safe, compliant railway operations.

Responsibilities include conducting corrective maintenance, fault finding with mechanical/pneumatic systems, inspecting structures, replacing parts, testing brakes, and updating the Maintenance

Qualifications

• Experience in rail or airline maintenance preferred.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use maintenance software.
• Formal mechanical qualification required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out corrective maintenance on CAF rolling stock per production plan and CAF policies.
• Perform fault finding using mechanical and pneumatic schematics.
• Inspect bodywork, roofs and undercarriages for wear or damage.
• Repair and replace parts; test brakes and couplings.
• Disassemble, test and reassemble mechanical and pneumatic systems.
• Write reports and update the Maintenance Management System; ensure compliance with railway standards.

Mechanical Warranty Technician

Mechanical Warranty Technician/ CAF Rail Australia - Dubbo Trust in Motion.

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Warranty Technician, based in Dubbo, to ensure the overall smooth and efficient operation of the Regional Rail Vehicles corrective maintenance in line with CAF policies and procedures, reporting to the Warranty Manager. Ensure all corrective maintenance actions are carried out in a safe manner in line with Work Health and Safety guidelines.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Carrying out corrective maintenance on all aspects of CAF rolling stock to meet the requirements of the production plan and in line with CAF policies and procedures.
• Innovative and astute fault finding and rectification skills using mechanical and pneumatic schematics.
• Inspecting bodywork, roofs and undercarriages for wear and tear or damage.
• Repairing and replacing parts.
• Carrying out checks on brakes and couplings.
• Taking apart, testing and reassembling mechanical and pneumatic systems.
• Writing reports and updating the Maintenance Management System to reflect the status of tasks.
• Ensuring tasks carried out meet the quality requirements of the relevant Railway standards.
• Carry out other reasonable tasks and duties as requested by management.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with all Australians health and safety, quality and environmental legislative requirements.

PROFILE

Education:

• Certificate in Mechanical qualifications.

Experience:

• Previous experience within the rail or airline industry preferably.
• Previous experience with electrical work is beneficial.
• Basic computer skills.
