Job summary

Allight Pty Ltd in Ingleburn is seeking a Mechanical Trades Assistant to join our workshop team. You will support servicing, maintenance and repair of generators, lighting towers and associated equipment, while preparing gear for inspections and delivery.

You will work alongside experienced technicians, gain hands-on experience, and develop skills in mechanical servicing and power generation within a growing national business. A safety-first mindset and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in workshop or industrial environments desirable but not essential.
• Strong safety focus and ability to follow procedures.
• Willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
• Current driver's licence required; forklift licence preferred.
• Ability to handle basic mechanical tasks under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist technicians with servicing, maintenance and repair activities.
• Prepare equipment for inspection, servicing and customer delivery.
• Clean, detail and present equipment to a high standard.
• Assist with assembly, installation and commissioning tasks.
• Support workshop housekeeping and stock management.
• Carry out basic mechanical tasks under supervision.
• Refuel, check fluid levels and complete pre-delivery inspections.
• Assist with fault-finding and troubleshooting.
• Safely operate workshop tools and equipment.
• Move equipment around workshop and yard.
• Maintain organized storage areas and perform stocktakes.
• Follow safety procedures and participate in toolbox meetings.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a motivated Mechanical Trades Assistant to join our team in Ingleburn.

This is a hands‑on role supporting our workshop and service teams with the preparation, maintenance, servicing and repair of generators, lighting towers, solar hybrid systems and associated industrial equipment.

Working alongside experienced technicians, you'll gain valuable industry experience and have the opportunity to develop your skills within a growing national business. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a long‑term career in mechanical servicing and power generation.

The Role

As a Mechanical Trades Assistant, you will support the workshop team with a variety of tasks including:

Workshop Support

• Assisting technicians with servicing, maintenance and repair activities.
• Preparing equipment for inspection, servicing and customer delivery.
• Cleaning, detailing and presenting equipment to a high standard.
• Assisting with assembly, installation and commissioning tasks.
• Supporting workshop housekeeping and maintaining a clean work environment.

Equipment Maintenance & Preparation

• Carrying out basic mechanical tasks under supervision.
• Refuelling, checking fluid levels and completing pre-delivery inspections.
• Assisting with fault‑finding and troubleshooting activities.
• Safely operating workshop tools and equipment.
• Loading, unloading and moving equipment around the workshop and yard.
• Maintaining organised storage areas and workshop consumables.
• Supporting inventory counts and stocktakes when required.

Safety & Teamwork

• Following all safety procedures and safe work practices.
• Participating in toolbox meetings and safety initiatives.
• Reporting hazards, incidents and equipment issues.
• Working collaboratively with technicians, supervisors and branch staff.
• Contributing to a positive and productive team culture.

About You

You are reliable, safety-focused and enjoy practical hands‑on work. You take pride in doing the job properly and are keen to learn from experienced tradespeople.

What We're Looking For:

• Previous experience in a workshop, manufacturing, construction, automotive, hire, mining or industrial environment is desirable but not essential.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety.
• Good mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Current driver's licence.
• Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain one).

We'd love you to have:

• Experience working around generators, lighting towers, pumps or similar equipment.
• Basic mechanical knowledge.
• High Risk Work Licences.
• Experience using hand and power tools.
• Dogging, rigging or EWP tickets.
