Job summary

Siemens Mobility is seeking a hands-on maintenance professional to support inspection, servicing and repair of rolling stock and depot equipment. You will assist with planned and corrective maintenance, ensuring safe work practices and keeping records up to date.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on workshop experience, basic mechanical aptitude, and a valid driver’s licence. Forklift/Crane qualifications are desirable but not required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on workshop maintenance experience in mechanical environments.
• Good reading and writing of maintenance instructions and records.
• Current unrestricted driver's licence; forklift/overhead crane/First Aid desirable.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service, maintain and repair rolling stock and depot equipment.
• Assist with planned and corrective maintenance; remove/install components.
• Prepare tools, materials and work areas; ensure safe working practices.
• Document maintenance activities and participate in toolbox talks and training.
• Keep workshop and stores organized and clean.

In this role you will:

• Support Rail Technicians with the inspection, servicing, maintenance and repair of rolling stock, depot workshop equipment and mechanical rail systems.
• Assist with planned and corrective maintenance work, including component removal, installation, replacement and basic mechanical tasks under the direction of qualified tradespeople.
• Prepare tools, materials, equipment and work areas to help maintenance activities run safely and efficiently.
• Use hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment safely and within your authorised competency level.
• Help keep the workshop, stores, equipment and work areas clean, organised and ready for use.
• Complete maintenance records, checklists and documentation, and participate in toolbox talks, training and continuous improvement activities.

We don’t need superheroes, just super minds.

• Experience in a hands-on workshop, maintenance, mechanical, automotive, manufacturing, mining, defence, heavy vehicle or industrial environment will be highly regarded.
• A strong safety mindset, with the ability to follow work instructions, SWMS, WHS requirements, site procedures and safe working practices.
• Basic mechanical aptitude, good literacy and numeracy skills, and the ability to read procedures, work orders, maintenance instructions and basic technical documentation.
• Current unrestricted driver’s licence required. Forklift, EWP, overhead crane, dogging or First Aid qualifications are desirable, but not mandatory.
