Job summary

Hydro Tasmania is seeking a Mechanical Supervisor to lead maintenance outages across its Tasmanian generation assets. Based from the Derwent Region, you will supervise crews, mentor technicians and coordinate with Site Managers to deliver safe, high-quality outage outcomes.

Travelling statewide, you will drive planning, scheduling and risk management while maintaining documentation in SAP. This role offers diverse assets, development opportunities and a commitment to inclusive, flexible work

Qualifications

  • Certificate III Mechanical Trade qualification.

  • Supervise maintenance activities at hydro generation sites.
  • Lead work crews to deliver safe, quality and on-schedule outcomes.
  • Support outage planning, resource allocation and work scheduling.
  • Review and maintain mechanical inspection and quality documentation.
  • Drive risk management, SWMS reviews and safety compliance.
  • Mentor apprentices, assistants and junior technicians.
  • Manage work orders, reporting and maintenance records in SAP.

About the role

Based from the Derwent Region, this role sits within our Major Maintenance Team and supports the planning and delivery of major maintenance outages across Hydro Tasmania's generation assets.

Travelling statewide and working closely with one of four Site Managers, you'll lead crews and contractors in the field, providing day-to-day supervision, safety leadership and technical guidance to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. Reporting to the Supervisor Major Maintenance, you'll mentor technicians and apprentices and work closely with operational, technical and contractor stakeholders to deliver successful outage outcomes.

Salary range $96,400 – $118,561 plus super OT and allowances.

Skills & experience
  • Certificate III Mechanical Trade qualification.
  • Current driver's licence.
  • Experience maintaining industrial mechanical equipment.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience supervising crews or contractors.
  • Strong communication, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Dogman/Rigger qualification, PIC authorisation, Confined Space or First Aid training desirable.
