Job description

KAEFER Integrated Services is seeking an experienced Mechanical Superintendent to join the team at the Geelong Refinery. This position will see you responsible for overseeing and managing all on-site Mechanical activities across the Turnaround portfolio, ensuring that projects are planned to a high standard, stakeholder engagement is incorporated to support safe and efficient methodologies, execution of scope is completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. You will play a key role in coordinating and supervising the construction team, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise mechanical teams across maintenance, Turnaround, and project activities.
• Ensure all work is executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project scope and client requirements.
• Coordinate labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to achieve operational and project objectives.
• Drive a strong safety culture through active leadership and strict compliance with site procedures, regulations, and quality standards.
• Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of turnaround and project activities to maximise productivity and minimise delays.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, safety performance, and compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise effectively with clients, project managers, engineers, tech inspection teams, supervisors, and other key stakeholders to communicate project objectives, progress, and challenges.
• Monitor productivity, performance, costs, and resource utilisation to ensure project and operational targets are achieved.
• Identify, manage, and resolve site issues, risks, and conflicts in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, progress updates, change orders, and completion records.

About you

• Relevant supervisory or leadership certifications
• Experience working on major industrial or refining sites (e.g. Viva Energy, Ampol or LNG operations highly regarded)
• Planning and scheduling experience
• A commitment to safety, accountability and operational excellence
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative leadership style
• Demonstrated previous experience as a Site Superintendent preferably in the Refinery, LNG / infrastructure industry.
• Good knowledge and use of Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word and Primavera P6
• Great time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills
• High attention to detail
• Work within the Turnaround team with long-term delivery pipelines
• Strong leadership support and a culture focused on safety, quality and people.
