Job summary

Downer is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to deliver comprehensive maintenance services across plant, equipment, buildings and infrastructure, ensuring reliability and safe operation at our site in New South Wales.

You will coordinate breakdown maintenance, manage preventative programs, and provide technical troubleshooting to improve reliability and reduce costs, while upholding safety standards in a chemical plant environment.

Qualifications

• Mechanical fitter trade qualification with production machinery experience.
• Experience in a chemical plant and hazardous areas.
• Understanding of heat treatment processes.
• Welding and steel fabrication experience is ideal.
• Knowledge of establishing and managing preventative maintenance programs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure equipment is reliable, fit for purpose, and meets visual standards.
• Coordinate and manage breakdown maintenance for plant, equipment, buildings, and infrastructure.
• Provide technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve reliability and performance issues.
• Oversee and maintain preventative and predictive maintenance schedules and reports.
• Monitor contractor performance to ensure service standards are met.
• Conduct contractor inductions and ensure adherence to site safety and environmental rules.
• Intervene to stop unsafe practices and ensure a safe working environment.
• Analyze maintenance data to identify opportunities for cost reduction, improved reliability, and process efficiency.
