Port Macquarie Hastings Council in Port Macquarie is offering a full-time four-year Mechanical Fitter Apprentice role. You will gain hands-on experience maintaining essential water and wastewater infrastructure, with paid study time to complete your Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting/Machining) at Taree TAFE.

You’ll learn on the job, work with other trades, and qualify for genuine career progression.

Qualifications

• Willing to learn on the job and ask questions.
• Interested in maintaining and improving community facilities.
• Team players with strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Safety-conscious and committed to working safely for yourself and others.
• Able to commit to study requirements and complete training in a timely and organised way.
• Holds a current Driver's Licence (Red P's or more).
• Holds a current general construction induction card (white card) or ability to obtain prior to commencement.

Responsibilities

• Maintain major water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Work on treatment plants, pump stations, valves, actuators, and hydraulic components.
• Collaborate with other trades across electrical, instrumentation and automation.
• Support community assets and project tasks as required.
