Job summary

WSG Eftech International, Otway Gas Plant near Port Campbell, Victoria, is seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters for a major gas plant shutdown. You will join a skilled team to carry out critical mechanical tasks on site.

The role requires a Mechanical Trade Certificate, experience in shutdowns or heavy industry, and strong fault-finding abilities under pressure. Travel, LAHA, and favorable shift terms are offered.

Qualifications

• Trade certificate required for the role.
• Shutdown or heavy industry experience is essential.
• Strong troubleshooting skills under pressure.
• Good communication with supervisors and team members.
• BA Ticket and Confined Space Entry awareness is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and record test pressures, hold times, temperature, and results.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and report leaks or non-conformances.
• Ensure safe depressurisation and disposal of test medium (water/glycol mix as applicable).
• Execute flange joint break-in and reassembly works as per company flange management procedure.
• Use calibrated torque/tensioning tools for controlled bolt tightening.
• Verify flange face condition and cleanliness prior to reassembly.
• Assist in flange leak testing and integrity verification.
• Support mechanical activities such as spool installation, line isolation, pressure relief device reinstatement, and valve fit-up.
• Carry out pre-start checks on tools and equipment, reporting any faults immediately.
• Perform housekeeping of work areas and ensure safe storage of tools/equipment.
