Job summary

Programmed Darwin is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter for a temporary contract at a cement manufacturing facility in the Darwin area. The role covers preventative and breakdown maintenance of heavy mechanical plant, diagnosis of faults, and upgrades to improve reliability.

Ideal candidates hold a Certificate III/IV in Engineering - Mechanical Fitting, have heavy industry experience, a valid driver’s licence, and full Australian working rights.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Engineering – Mechanical Fitting is essential.
• Experience in heavy industry, manufacturing, mining or similar.
• Full working rights in Australia and a valid driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on mechanical plant and equipment.
• Inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical faults.
• Install, dismantle, align and maintain mechanical equipment.
• Work on conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, crushers and other heavy industrial equipment.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and documentation.
• Carry out planned maintenance to high standards and assist with upgrades.

Our client is a leading Australian construction materials company, supplying cement and other essential products that support major infrastructure and construction projects across Australia.

They are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their maintenance team and contribute to the safe and reliable operation of their cement manufacturing facility.

About the Role:

The position will involve all aspects of mechanical work on site, including:

• Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on mechanical plant and equipment
• Inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical faults
• Install, dismantle, align and maintain mechanical equipment
• Work on conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, crushers and other heavy industrial equipment
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Carry out planned maintenance activities to a high standard
• Assist with equipment upgrades, shutdowns and improvement projects
• Maintain accurate maintenance records
• Follow all workplace health, safety and environmental procedures

What We're Looking For:

• Certificate III or IV in Engineering - Mechanical Fitting
• Previous experience in heavy industry, manufacturing, mining or a similar environment
• Valid driver's licence and reliable vehicle
• Full working rights in Australia
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
• Good communication and teamwork skills
