Job summary

Siemens Mobility on the Gold Coast is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern (1st or 2nd year) to join our Electrification & Automation team in Yatala from January 2027. The role is part-time (16–24 hours/week) for a two-year paid internship.

We’re looking for an undergraduate Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Yatala, Gold Coast from January 2027. This role is part-time and we are looking for someone who can commit to 16-24 hours per week for a two-year paid internship. To be eligible, you’ll need to hold Australian or New Zealand permanent residency or citizenship.

To be eligible for our 2027 program, you'll need to be:

• An Australian or New Zealand citizen or have Australian permanent residency at the time of application
• A first or second-year undergraduate student pursuing Mechanical Engineering degree (or similar)
• Be able to commence part-time employment in February 2027 for 2 years

Your Impact

As a key member of our Electrification & Automation team, you will:

• Engage in building prototypes of cutting-edge switchgear designs and participate in conducting comprehensive design verification tests.
• Assist in constructing and testing mechanical, electrical, and electronic subsystems, playing a vital role in our pioneering engineering efforts.
• Collaboratively write test plans based on functional requirement specifications and IEC standards to ensure our projects meet the highest specifications.
• Analyze test data rigorously, leveraging programming skills to automate data analysis, and contribute to insightful engineering judgements on system performance.
• Document and present test reports that capture essential findings and highlight areas of improvement for optimized engineering solutions.
