Job summary

Buterin L’Estrange Projects in West Gosford, NSW, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. You will design, document and coordinate projects from concept through manufacture and installation for commercial joinery, retail fits and bespoke products.

You will produce manufacturing drawings with AutoCAD and SolidWorks, develop 2D/3D models, review drawings, ensure compliance with Australian Standards, and support project teams to deliver on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering is required
• 1+ year of related employment experience preferred
• Australian Standards knowledge is necessary

We are currently searching for a Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, engineering, documentation and technical coordination of projects from concept through to manufacture and installation. This role supports the successful delivery of commercial, retail, hospitality and bespoke joinery projects by producing accurate engineering designs, detailed shop drawings, CNC files, material schedules and technical documentation.

The Mechanical Engineer works closely with project managers, estimators, production staff, suppliers and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget. Key responsibilities include Engineering & Design:

• Prepare mechanical designs for commercial joinery and bespoke products.
• Produce detailed manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Develop 2D and 3D models for client presentation and manufacturing.
• Review architectural drawings and specifications.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant Australian Standards and project requirements.
• Resolve technical design issues throughout the project lifecycle.

Manufacturing Support:

• Prepare fabrication and shop drawings for production.
• Produce CNC machining files.
• Generate Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Generate Bills of Quantities (BOQ).
• Coordinate design changes with production staff.
• Provide technical support to the workshop during manufacture.

Project Coordination:

• Assist Project Managers with technical planning.
• Coordinate with architects, consultants and clients regarding design requirements.
• Monitor engineering progress to meet project deadlines.
• Assist with prototype development where required.
• Participate in project meetings.

Estimating Support:

• Complete quantity take-offs from tender documentation;
• Assist with material selection;
• Review engineering requirements during tender preparation;
• Provide technical advice during estimating.

Quality & Continuous Improvement:

• Ensure drawings are accurate before release.
• Maintain document control.
• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency.
• Assist in reducing production errors and rework.

Health, Safety & Compliance:

• Comply with WHS legislation and company policies.
• Ensure engineering designs consider safe manufacture and installation.
• Follow company quality management procedures.
• Participate in toolbox meetings and safety initiatives.

To be considered you will need a relevant Bachelor Degree and at least 1 year of related employment experience. This is a full time position, an immediate start is available. A remuneration package of $80,000 - $90,000 per annum will be offered to the successful candidate.
