Job description

Specific Functions & Tasks
  • Provide production engineering support to the manufacturing group.
  • Support other work groups within EOSDS to ensure that relevant issues associated with bedding down in manufacturing new products and processes are managed.
  • Provide support to engineering development to ensure production requirements are raised and resolved in the design phase as required to ensure efficient production.
  • Undertake the design and development of the production files, aid jigs and fixtures.
  • Undertake the development of production procedures for new products.
  • Coordinate, monitor and analyse production metrics. Use metrics to minimise production of parts out of specification.
  • Undertake an evaluation/analysis and suggest improvements to production procedures and workflows.
  • Mentor Production staff in support of production objectives.
  • Provide production capacity support when available.
  • Monitor and report any WHS or security issues to the Lead Production Engineer.
  • Adhere to and ensure understanding and compliance with company procedures to achieve a safe and secure work environment.
  • Assist in implementation of Lean manufacturing practises to develop preparing VSM
  • Other duties as required.
Strategy and Architecture
  • Apply strategy for emerging, new, and current technologies, products, services within Defence Systems and provide support for the innovation and delivery practices required to assure the implementation of this strategy.
  • Assess and apply engineering methods and tools in specific domains, defence system knowledge, and engineering best practice to maintain competitive advantage, exploit EOS DS technologies and recommend how to minimise exposure and risk.
  • Communicate, advocate and influence stakeholders through effective negotiation and communication while fostering an environment of innovation, learning and continuous improvement within and outside the organisation.
Development and implementation of Engineering
  • Self-initiated and managed under limited direction and governance to be responsible for demonstrably leading self to produce designs and products that satisfy defined requirements in the specified time frames and meet group objectives. Undertake cohesive best practice designs and analysis and develop efficient work practices to support product development activities and business outcomes.
  • Understand and apply the routine use of rigorous development and problem-solving methods to apply safe, secure, and reliable solutions to engineering problems.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers across functional teams to solve complex problems as a team and ensure all requirements are identified, captured, and analysed such that the design/product can be developed that satisfies the safety, quality, policy, legislative and design authority requirements.
  • Undertake clear and pragmatic tests, evaluation and verification activities on integrated system designs and prototypes (including formal check points) to verify and provide recommendations for sign-off of all design requirements to the lead engineer and Design Authorities based on relevant legislative requirements, standards, and contracts.
  • Prepare and review all documentation at the team levels that is required to support designs and provide tailored advice and recommendations to teams and decision makers.
Relationship and engagement
  • Actively listen, share knowledge and experience, provide guidance and mentorship, and work collaboratively to support teams across engineering and other relevant internal and external customers to deliver engineering and business outcomes.
  • Work with Production Engineers and Technicians to apply and ensure the best design solutions are delivered to solve production problems and obtain business outcomes under the broad direction of the Chief Engineer.
  • Interact with EOS Executive, Project Managers, and Project Engineers to ensure design solutions are delivered on time and on budget and meet other project management requirements.
  • Communicate insights and provide strong engineering judgement for progress and the advancement of sound engineering solutions.
Delivery and operation
  • Interpret the design and execution of user acceptance testing and other verification activities to provide recommendations to the Chief Engineer and other Design Authorities.
  • Support production and review manufacturing and supplier requirements to meet specified timeframes, engineering standards, and business outcomes.
People And Skills
  • Work and interacts with people in cross functional multidisciplinary teams to solve routine engineering problems and solutions.
Experience And Qualification
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent technical training / experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a production/engineering related role is essential.
  • The ability to understand, communicate effectively influence in order to implement business requirements.
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary teams in a structured product.
  • A collaborative mindset, with excellent communication skills and a passion and aptitude for problem solving. development or project engineering environment is desirable.
  • Experience in Defence sector is desirable.
