Job summary

Transport for NSW is seeking a skilled drafting professional to produce technical drawings across mechanical, structural and electrical disciplines. You will translate concepts into practical drawings and documentation, verify third-party drawings, and support site investigations.

The role involves preparing construction drawings, maintaining drafting standards, and contributing to continuous improvement of practices and quality systems, with flexible work options possible.

Qualifications

• Experience producing technical drawings across mechanical, structural and electrical disciplines.
• Translate concepts, specifications and standards into practical drawings and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with Australian Standards and drafting practices.

Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Senior Project Design Engineer, work with engineers, project managers and stakeholders to develop accurate design documentation for mechanical equipment, structural components and site layouts.
• Translate engineering concepts, specifications and standards into practical drawings and technical documentation.
• Prepare structural, mechanical and electrical design drawings and technical documentation.
• Develop construction drawings and design proposals in line with engineering specifications and Australian Standards.
• Review and verify drawings produced by third parties to ensure compliance with required standards.
• Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and collect measurements for drafting activities.
• Maintain drawing databases, libraries, templates and drafting standards.
• Support project teams by preparing concept sketches and technical artefacts for option development and decision-making.
• Provide technical advice on manufacturing products, systems and services.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of drafting practices, standards and quality systems.
