Job summary

ProFound People Pty Ltd in North Sydney is seeking a Mechanical Building Services Engineer to own HVAC design and commissioning across a national network of mission-critical sites. You will ensure reliable cooling, ventilation and mechanical systems on live infrastructure.

Qualifications

• A degree in mechanical or building services engineering eligible for Engineers Australia graduate entry.
• 5+ years' mechanical or HVAC engineering experience, ideally in mission-critical environments.
• Hands-on commissioning experience.
• Working knowledge of AS 1668 and the NCC.
• Current driver's licence and willingness to travel to sites.
• Ability to pass a criminal history check.

Responsibilities

• HVAC design and specification for operational sites where cooling is critical to uptime.
• Thermal load and capacity planning for upgrades and retrofits to meet heat loads.
• Standby generation support, managing diesel fuel systems for standby generators.
• Lead commissioning and acceptance of mechanical plant on site.
• Shape asset maintenance and evaluation programs for HVAC, fire services and building fabric.
• Be the go-to technical resource for field teams on mechanical faults.
• Ensure compliance with NCC and Australian Standards.

Mechanical Building Services Engineer | Mission-Critical Infrastructure

North Sydney | Permanent, full time | 130-155k + super + bonus

If you're a mechanical engineer who wants to design HVAC and plant and own it on live, critical sites, rather than handing it over at practical completion, this one is worth a look.

Our client runs critical communications infrastructure that Australians rely on every day. They're adding a mechanically focused Building Services Engineer to their infrastructure engineering team. You'll look after the cooling, ventilation and supporting mechanical systems across a national network of mission-critical sites, working alongside power, structural and network engineers.

What you'll be doing

• HVAC design and specification: design, specify and review HVAC and mechanical services for operational sites where cooling is critical to uptime
• Thermal load and capacity planning: size and plan HVAC upgrades and retrofits to meet growing site heat loads
• Standby generation support: manage the diesel fuel systems behind standby generators across the network
• Commissioning: lead commissioning and acceptance of mechanical plant on site
• Asset strategy: shape maintenance and asset evaluation programs for HVAC, fire services and building fabric, including hazardous materials works
• Field support: be the go-to technical resource for field teams on mechanical faults
• Compliance: keep fire and building services compliant with the NCC and Australian Standards

What you'll bring

• A degree in mechanical or building services engineering that qualifies you for Engineers Australia graduate entry, or an equivalent qualification
• 5+ years' mechanical or HVAC engineering experience, ideally in mission-critical environments such as data centres, telecoms, utilities, hospitals or defence
• Hands-on commissioning experience
• Working knowledge of AS 1668 and the NCC
• A current driver's licence and willingness to travel to sites
• The ability to pass a criminal history check
