Job summary

JK Personnel is seeking a Mechanical Labourer for a leading Australian manufacturer of emergency service vehicles in Ballarat. The role involves the assembly and fit out of special purpose vehicles within a manufacturing environment.

You will work in a small team with autonomy, contribute to multiple projects, read and interpret plans, use hand and power tools, and help maintain a safe, organised work space.

Qualifications

• Experience reading plans and technical drawings.
• Experience assembling vehicles or similar mechanical assemblies.
• Ability to read technical drawings with good numerical skills.
• Background in auto electrical or vehicle building advantageous.

About the Organisation

Our client is a leading Australian manufacturer of emergency service vehicles, delivering custom solutions to fire, emergency service and private sector clients with a strong focus on quality and teamwork.

The Role

As a Mechanical Labourer, you’ll be responsible for the assembly & fit out of special purpose vehicles within a manufacturing environment. You’ll work as part of a small team, contributing to multiple major upcoming projects. The role offers autonomy, variety, and the chance to develop your technical skills.

Duties

• Assemble and fit out vehicle bodies and components
• Read and interpret plans and technical drawings with strong numerical skill set
• Use hand and power tools for mechanical and electrical assembly
• Work independently and collaboratively within small teams
• Maintain a safe and organised work environment

Skills & Experience

• Tinkering skillset; hands-on experience highly valued such as experience working on caravans, trucks, or vans
• Mechanically minded, with experience in assembly, air conditioning, electrical, or technical work highly regarded
• Trade qualification or vehicle building experience advantageous although not essential

This role would be well suited to someone with a background in auto electrical, vehicle building, motor mechanics, fitters, or refrigeration mechanics.
