Job summary

Directhaul in Australia is seeking a qualified Mechanic to join our growing workshop team. You will maintain a modern fleet of trucks and trailers, performing servicing and repairs to a high standard while following schedules and manufacturer specifications.

You will hold a heavy vehicle trade certificate and a current HR/HC licence, with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Interstate travel may be required to support regional depots.

Qualifications

• Qualified Mechanic with sound mechanical knowledge.
• Experience in servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Driver’s Licence.
• HR/HC Licence and fuel maintenance knowledge (desirable).
• Experience in transport/mining industry (desirable).
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• High standard of work ethic.
• Experience servicing heavy vehicle trucks and trailers (desirable).
• Knowledge of scheduled servicing and maintenance schedules.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a qualified Mechanic to join our growing team and work with us in achieving our goals. You will have the opportunity to work within a small team, in a state-of-the-art workshop and with a modern fleet. Maintaining the Directhaul fleet of trucks and trailers to a high standard of maintenance through scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance or repairs. To be successful in this role, you will require a heavy vehicle trade certificate, qualified Mechanic trade certificate with good mechanical knowledge and ability to work in a fast-paced workshop environment.

You will be part of a team that understands the importance of offering a customised approach to transportation and join a dedicated team who work closely with clients to ensure they can access reliable and cost-efficient transport solutions that meet their needs.

Key responsibilities include:

• Maintain modern fleet of trucks and trailers.
• Servicing and repairs of fleet equipment in accordance with maintenance schedules, manuals, manufactures specifications, NHVAS and truck safe requirements.
• Ensure Directhaul equipment Is maintained and presented to the highest possible standard.
• Maintain high Safety Standards within the workshop areas, including the policing of unauthorized entry and the use of sources of ignition within the designated areas.
• Report to Workshop Supervisor/Workshop Manager regarding all maintenance and workshop related procedures, non-conformances and/or safety matters
• Accurately complete servicing and repair paperwork in accordance with Directhaul Maintenance guidelines
• Compliance with all company policies, procedures, and legal requirements
• Attend and actively participate in Pre-Start Meetings, Toolbox meetings and risk assessments.
• Develop positive relationships with team and customers.
• Follow instructions from Workshop Manager/Workshop Supervisor for daily duties and workloads.
• Take reasonable care and personal responsibility for your own health and safety.
• Co-operate with any policy or procedure relating to health, safety or environment at the workplace that has been notified to you
• Ensure vigilance and awareness of your workplace to ensure that any hazards, incidents, accidents or near-misses are reported to your supervisor

Qualifications

• Previous industry related experience in transport and/or mining industry (desirable )
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Maintain a high standard of work ethic
• Experience servicing and maintenance of heavy vehicle trucks and trailers. (desirable )
• Knowledge of working to outlined servicing and maintenance schedules.

The role will manage the maintenance of the regions fleet vehicles, inclusive of callouts for asset breakdowns and possible interstate fleet maintenance. The role may require interstate travel, between workshops to temporality fill vacant roles.
