Job summary

Smart AVR, part of AMA Group, is seeking a skilled Mechanic to join the Thurgoona-based workshop servicing the Albury region. The hands-on role focuses on inspecting, diagnosing and repairing suspension, steering and driveline systems, along with general mechanical repairs and fault finding.

You will use workshop equipment and diagnostic tools to identify faults, perform replacements, and support modern vehicle systems while maintaining safety and quality standards. Equal opportunity employer.

Responsibilities

• Inspecting, diagnosing and repairing suspension, steering and driveline systems to manufacturer standards.
• Completing suspension and driveline repairs, including inspections, fault finding and component replacement.
• Diagnosing, servicing and repairing automotive air-conditioning systems where licensed and required.
• Carrying out general mechanical repairs and supporting diagnostic work as required.
• Completing wheel-end, steering and underbody inspections and repairs.

The Opportunity

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a skilled Mechanic to join our team servicing the Albury region. Workshop is based in Thurgoona.

This is a hands-on role focused primarily on inspecting, diagnosing and repairing suspension, steering and driveline systems, along with general mechanical repairs and fault finding.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Inspecting, diagnosing and repairing suspension, steering and driveline systems to manufacturer standards
• Completing suspension and driveline repairs, including inspections, fault finding and component replacement
• Diagnosing, servicing and repairing automotive air-conditioning systems where licensed and required
• Using workshop equipment and diagnostic tools to identify mechanical faults accurately
• Carrying out general mechanical repairs and supporting diagnostic work as required
• Completing wheel-end, steering and underbody inspections and repairs
• Assisting with modern vehicle systems and diagnostic procedures where required
• Completing accurate job documentation and maintaining high standards of safety, quality and workmanship

About You

• Trade qualification as an Automotive Mechanic or Light Vehicle Technician
• Automotive air-conditioning licence is desirable but not essential
• Proven experience inspecting, diagnosing and repairing suspension, steering and driveline systems
• Experience with general diagnostics and modern vehicle systems is advantageous, but specialist ADAS experience is not essential
• Confidence using standard workshop equipment and diagnostic tools
• Strong fault-finding, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• A team-focused approach, clear communication skills and a valid driver’s licence
