Job description

Coghlan Transport PTY LTD is seeking an experienced MC Truck Driver Interstate to join our growing team. This is a full-time position based in Avoca, Victoria. As an MC Truck Driver Interstate, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining articulated trucks on long-distance interstate routes, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of freight across Australian highways. This role is critical to our operations and requires a professional driver with extensive experience in interstate heavy vehicle transport. Coghlan Transport delivery of general freight from flat tops, tautliners tippers or winders.

Key responsibilities

Operating MC (articulated) trucks safely and efficiently on interstate routes in compliance with all relevant traffic laws and regulations

Conducting pre and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the truck is in roadworthy condition

Performing routine maintenance checks and reporting any mechanical issues promptly

Managing vehicle logbooks accurately, recording hours of work and rest periods in accordance with fatigue management legislation

Loading and securing freight appropriately, ensuring cargo is distributed correctly for safe transport

Navigating various road and weather conditions whilst maintaining safety standards and delivery schedules

Communicating regularly with dispatch and management regarding route updates, delays and any incidents

Maintaining a professional attitude and representing Coghlan Transport PTY LTD positively with clients and the public

Adhering to all company policies, safety procedures and industry regulations at all times

What we're looking for

Valid MC Truck Licence (mandatory requirement)

Proven experience as a truck driver on interstate routes, preferably with several years of heavy vehicle operation

Current Heavy Combination (HC) or articulated truck driving experience

Clean driving record with a focus on safety and compliance

Strong knowledge of Australian road rules, fatigue management regulations and vehicle load restraint codes

Excellent mechanical knowledge and ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting

Ability to manage time effectively and meet delivery deadlines consistently

Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently for extended periods

Professional attitude with a commitment to workplace safety and industry best practices

Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks associated with freight handling

Flexibility to work irregular hours, including early starts, late finishes and occasional overnight trips
