Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH in Australia is hiring a Material Handler to oversee inbound and outbound parts, inspect materials, and manage tooling and inventory within SAP-driven processes.

You will ensure proper documentation, calibration tracking, and compliance with safety standards while supporting maintenance operations and timely deliveries.

Qualifications

  • Goods-In approval experience.
  • Experience in aviation or material/parts environment.
  • Knowledge of human factors and human performance.
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft parts and terminology.
  • Valid driver’s license and forklift license.
  • Passing medical, AOD screening and police checks may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to maintenance procedures and MOE, environmental and safety requirements.
  • Determine priority items to ensure timely handling of incoming/outgoing parts.
  • Receive and visually inspect all incoming and outgoing materials for damage and proper documentation.
  • Inspect and identify received tools and enter tooling in the tooling program.
  • Quarantine and label rejected tools and parts.
  • Accept aircraft components and materials in accordance with SAP.
  • File material certificates and ensure materials stored and linked to supplier.
  • Issue approved parts and materials with required documentation.
  • Ensure outgoing materials are charged to correct customer account.
  • Maintain inventory via cycle counts and other systems.
  • Monitor tooling calibration and expiry.
  • Maintain housekeeping in stores.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What are your contributions to the team?
  • Adhere to Bombardiers Maintenance Organization Procedures, among which the relevant parts of the MOE, applicable work instructions and especially environmental and safety
  • Determine priority items to ensure timely handling of incoming and outgoing parts, e.g. handling AOG items first
  • Receive and visually inspect all incoming and outgoing materials for physical damage and appropriate documentation, including provisions for properly inspecting electrostatic sensitive components
  • Inspect and identify received tools and equipment and enter tooling in the tooling program
  • Ensure rejected tools and parts (among which suspected unapproved parts) are quarantined and labelled.
  • Accept aircraft components and materials in accordance with SAP
  • Ensure that all material certificates are properly filed and materials are properly stored, and that material is kept linked to the supplier source
  • Issue approved parts, materials, special tooling and ground support equipment to the maintenance department that is accompanied with the appropriate documentation
  • Ensure that outgoing materials are placed on the right customer account
  • Maintain accurate inventory (via cycle counts, perpetual, work-in-progress) using computerized / manual systems to include purchased parts, manufactured parts, materials, tools, etc.
  • Ensure that material is removed from store before expiration
  • Prepare picked items prior to aircraft input and the issuance to the Project Responsible/Certifying Staff upon arrival
  • Monitor special tooling to ensure all issued tooling is within its calibration period
  • Remove special tooling from its location in advance of its calibration date
  • Monitor inventory levels of consumables.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices in stores
  • Perform other duties as assigned
How to thrive in this role?
  • You have held Goods-In Company approval with experience of accepting aircraft components.
  • You have previous experience in aviation or material/parts environment.
  • You have knowledge on, and practicing of, human factors, human performance and limitations.
  • You have "Airfreight Security Employee" training.
  • You have "Road Transport/Awareness ADR" (Dangerous Goods) training
  • You have "Incoming Goods Inspector" understanding
  • You have basic knowledge of aircraft parts and terminology
  • You have previous experience with SAP - DESIRABLE
  • You have basic knowledge on applicable officially recognised CASA regulations, being Part-145, ADR, IATA category 7/8
  • You hold a valid driver’s license
  • You hold a current forklift license

The successful candidate must be able to pass a pre-employment medical, AOD screening (adhere to DAMP policy) and police checks.
