Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a Masters- or PhD-qualified Data Scientist to audit and improve cutting-edge AI models. This fully remote hourly contract role emphasizes precise written communication, rigorous problem design, and detailed feedback on AI reasoning.

You will design complex data science challenges, author gold-standard solutions, and rigorously audit model outputs with Python/R, SQL, and ML frameworks. Flexible hours 10–40 per week.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or holding a Masters or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a heavily quantitative field.
• Strong knowledge across supervised/unsupervised learning, deep learning, NLP or big data tech (Spark, Hadoop).
• Able to communicate complex concepts and results clearly in writing.
• Exceptionally detail-oriented; catches errors in code, notation and reasoning.
• Self-motivated and reliable when working independently and asynchronously.
• No prior AI or data annotation experience required.

Responsibilities

• Design advanced challenges covering hyperparameter optimization, Bayesian inference, cross-validation, and more.
• Author ground-truth solutions with Python/R scripts, SQL queries and mathematical derivations.
• Audit AI-generated code using Scikit-Learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow for accuracy and efficiency.
• Refine AI reasoning by identifying data leakage, overfitting, or class-imbalance issues.
• Document failure modes to contribute to model hardening efforts.
