Job summary

The University of Queensland's Marketing and Communications team is seeking a Marketing and Communications ML/AI specialist at HEW Level 7, based at the St Lucia Campus. You will design, develop and maintain production-ready AI solutions to advance student engagement, recruitment and service delivery, contributing to data-driven marketing initiatives.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field, with relevant professional experience.
• Experience designing, developing and maintaining ML/AI solutions in production.
• Strong programming skills in Python, R and SQL, with scalable codebases.
• Experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, Jupyter Notebook and Docker.
• Experience building and optimising data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
• Experience working with cloud-based data environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate complex challenges into practical solutions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing and maintaining machine learning models and AI solutions that support strategic and operational objectives.
• Building and enhancing production-ready machine learning applications using Python, Spark and modern data science platforms.
• Collaborating with IT and business stakeholders to develop scalable data pipelines and integrate ML solutions into enterprise environments.
• Translating complex analytical outputs into clear recommendations and insights that drive tangible business outcomes.
