Job description

Full-Time | Sydney (Hybrid) | Salary Range - $70-90k

Recent graduates with strong extracurricular marketing experience and candidates with 1-2 years of marketing experience are encouraged to apply.

About Octopusbot

Octopusbot builds AI models that forecast crop yields, planted areas, and grain/oilseed market dynamics for farmers, traders, and food companies worldwide. We help our customers make smarter decisions with cutting-edge models, satellite data, and intuitive dashboards.

We are in our GTM stage, expanding internationally, and growing quickly. This means things move fast, priorities shift, and everyone wears multiple hats. We need better structure, visibility, and execution across the business - and this role exists to help make that happen.

The Role

This is a full-time hybrid role blending marketing execution with business operations - roughly half and half. We are looking for someone who brings real marketing capability: an eye for what works on social, a sense for brand voice, comfort with content creation tools, and the ability to think about audiences and messaging. You will also help run the operational engine that keeps a fast-growing startup moving - reporting, tracking, processes, and follow-through.

You’ll work directly with the founders and the broader team. One day you might be planning a content calendar, coordinating a webinar series, and analysing campaign performance; the next you’ll be building a KPI tracker, following up on project milestones, or creating a repeatable workflow. You’ll help turn messy information into clear outputs - whether that is a polished LinkedIn campaign or a clean weekly report.

This is not a traditional admin role. We expect you to think independently, improve things as you go, ask good questions, and take ownership of your work across both marketing and operations.

What You'll Work On
Marketing
  • Create and coordinate social media content across LinkedIn and X (Twitter) - including static posts, short-form video, and carousel content using Canva
  • Produce and distribute monthly newsletters via HubSpot, from content drafting through to send and performance tracking
  • Support the planning and execution of multi-channel marketing campaigns, including content calendars, email, social, and eventsResearch, select, and coordinate events, webinars, and conferences relevant to our target audience - managing logistics, promotion, and follow-up
  • Assist with website content updates, landing pages, and redesign projects
  • Track and report on marketing activity and engagement - compile campaign summaries, social media metrics, and newsletter performance into simple, actionable reports
  • Help maintain CRM hygiene and marketing lists, supporting lead tracking and audience segmentation
  • Contribute ideas to brand strategy, messaging, and content direction - we want someone who thinks and creates, not just executes
  • Create and maintain partnerships with podcasts and content creators that align with our target audience
Business Operations
  • Maintain and improve KPI trackers across customers, usage, marketing activity, and operations
  • Keep weekly and monthly reporting inputs clean and current - spot missing or inconsistent data and help fix it
  • Track key projects, deadlines, and next steps across the business; follow up with team members and founders on open actions
  • Prepare notes, summaries, and action lists after meetings
  • Create templates, checklists, and repeatable processes to reduce manual work and improve efficiency
  • Help with data entry, document management, and information verification
  • Support ad-hoc research, reporting, and project tracking as needed
What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone early in their career who can demonstrate real marketing ability - whether from work experience, student societies, personal projects, or freelance work. You do not need prior operations experience, but you should be organised, proactive, and comfortable picking up new tools and processes quickly.

Experience & Background

A recent graduate with significant extracurricular marketing experience (e.g., student societies, clubs, personal projects) OR candidates with 1-2 years of marketing work experience. Internships, part-time work, volunteering, or personal projects that demonstrate initiative are all valued.

Marketing Skills
  • Hands‑on content creation skills - you have built social media posts, newsletters, videos, or other content (Canva, Adobe Express, or similar)
  • An understanding of what makes content work - you can talk about voice, audience, platform fit, and why certain posts perform better than others
  • Experience coordinating or contributing to marketing campaigns, events, or content programs - even if at a student society, volunteer, or internship level
  • Comfort with marketing tools - Canva and/or Adobe Express required; familiarity with HubSpot, Mailchimp, Google Analytics, or social media scheduling tools is a strong plus
  • A creative, proactive mindset - you spot opportunities to improve content, suggest ideas, and take initiative rather than waiting for a brief
How You Work
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, or clear evidence you can learn quickly
  • Organised, reliable, and detail‑oriented - you keep things on track without being chased
  • Clear oral and written communication and professional presentation
  • Comfortable with messy information, changing priorities, and startup pace
  • Autonomous - you make progress without constant direction and follow up properly
Why Join Us
  • Work directly with the founders and a small, high-impact team
  • Learn how a fast-growing AI/data company operates from the inside
  • Get broad exposure across marketing, operations, reporting, customers, and systems
  • Build practical skills quickly in a role that spans multiple functions
  • Real responsibility and real impact from day one
  • Be part of an ag‑tech startup shaping the future of global food and grain markets
  • Opportunity to grow into a broader role as the company scales
