Job summary

Amentum is seeking an experienced Outfitting Engineer in Canberra to support the LAND 8710 program. You will design, integrate, and install equipment onto maritime platforms, ensuring safe operation in naval environments.

You will work with naval architects, Defence stakeholders and industry partners to resolve interface challenges and support verification and trials. The role requires an engineering degree and strong systems integration knowledge with maritime experience, plus the ability to

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in mechanical, marine, or naval architecture is required.
• Knowledge of systems integration across land and maritime domains.
• Experience in design/assessment of equipment mounting, stowage, space/weight/CG considerations.
• Strong understanding of defence engineering and certification frameworks, maritime preferred.
• Proficient in verification, testing and trials processes.
• Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively.
• Desirable: knowledge of configuration management and change control.
• Desirable: experience in amphibious/littoral operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage outfitting designs for equipment, fittings, and infrastructure on ships or amphibious platforms.
• Coordinate integration of mechanical, structural, and auxiliary systems.
• Ensure compliance with naval standards, including seaworthiness and space/weight constraints.
• Work with naval architects, marine engineers, and Army stakeholders to resolve layout/interface issues.
• Contribute to design reviews (PDR/CDR) and integrate outfitting considerations early.
• Support verification and trials and manage integration risks.
• Oversee installation activities during build or modification phases.
