Job summary

GHD is seeking an experienced Design Manager / Technical Director – Maritime to lead and deliver complex maritime infrastructure projects from Brisbane or other Queensland offices. You will steer multidisciplinary teams, manage project scope and budget, and strengthen client relationships across Australia and international projects.

The role offers senior leadership with opportunities for technical direction, business growth and mentoring of engineers in a high-performing maritime team.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
• Approximately 10+ years in maritime structure assessment, design and remediation.
• Experience leading design and delivery of maritime infrastructure projects.
• Chartered status or working toward chartership with RPEQ registration is preferred or possible to obtain.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and project delivery capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, assessment, design and delivery of maritime infrastructure projects (wharves, jetties, terminals, ports, marinas, seawalls).
• Direct design teams of engineers, scientists and drafters to achieve high-quality outcomes.
• Manage scope, quality, program, budget, risk and design interfaces across lifecycles.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with other disciplines on complex projects.
• Build and maintain client/stakeholder relationships and pursue growth opportunities.
• Prepare proposals and review technical reports, specs and design documentation.
• Coach and mentor developing engineers and foster team culture.
• Provide design management and technical leadership across Australia and international projects.
