A leading marine service provider in Queensland is seeking a Marine Diesel Fitter to join their engineering team. This role involves servicing and maintaining a fleet of high-speed catamarans and trucks based at the Brisbane Ferry Terminal. The ideal candidate should have experience with Marine Diesel engines and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team. The position offers a casual schedule of 38 hours a week with a rotating roster.
We have an opportunity for a Marine Diesel Fitter (Shoreside) to join our engineering team who operate aboard a 40m wave piercing catamaran and newly launched 30m Catamaran and shoreside engineering work at our Ferry terminal in Eagle Farm (Holt Street- Brisbane).
If you are wanting to get into the Marine industry as an engineer, this is a fantastic opportunity to start your transition. Gain valuable knowledge and experience on a fleet of 5 vessels, and start obtaining Sea Time to work towards getting your MED 1 or Class 3 Marine Engineering certificates.
You will be responsible for all servicing, maintenance and operation of the Tangalooma Island Resort Ferry Fleet which currently has 4 high speed catamarans (40m, 30m, 22m & 20m) and 1 landing barge (35m).
In addition to the vessels, we have 6 trucks, 3 forklifts and 2 utes to be maintained.
To meet the essential criteria, you will have:
Working hours: Casual position, 5 days a week (38hrs)– you will need to be available for a rotating roster all days of the week including weekends and public holidays as required. (Shore based fitter mainly Mon – Fri).
Normal rostered hours will range from 0600-18:00
This is a Brisbane Based role located at our Ferry Terminal- Not on island. Own transport required
