Overview
SuniTAFE is seeking a skilled and strategic Manager, Risk & Organisational Resilience to lead the development and delivery of frameworks that strengthen our risk culture and organisational preparedness. From overseeing incident protocols to refining our Business Continuity Plan and coordinating insurance portfolios, this role will be at the forefront of safeguarding our people and the organisation.
This critical role supports the Head of Governance and collaborates with senior leaders to embed a strong risk culture, enhance emergency response capabilities, and ensure robust business continuity planning. The role will also champion capability building, lead critical response teams, and drive continuous improvement through data-driven insights and stakeholder collaboration. Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction to the Risk Management Framework to assist the organisation to achieve strategic priorities and operational objectives.
- Develop and lead the delivery of services related to incident management and emergency response across the organisation.
- Develop systems to build the Organisation’s capability to identify, capture and report on strategic and operational risks, in consultation with key stakeholders.
- Lead the Emergency Management Team (EMT) and coordinate critical incident responses across all SuniTAFE campuses.
- Provide oversight of risk treatments, control effectiveness, and assurance activities in relation to emergency management.
- Lead improvements to, and maintain, the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and departmental sub-plans, working with key stakeholders to ensure the plans remain fit-for-purpose.
- Perform annual reviews and testing of the BCP and sub-plans, report findings and make recommendations for improvements as needed.
- Facilitate cross-functional coordination and collaboration among departments and teams involved in emergency management and business continuity efforts.
- Monitor compliance with internal policies and external obligations in relation to incidents, emergency management and business continuity.
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification or a lesser formal qualification.
- Demonstrated extensive experience in risk management, emergency management, and business resilience, preferably in education settings or the public sector.
- Proven experience leading risk management, incident response, and business continuity planning, including developing and implementing frameworks and policies.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements, with the ability to ensure alignment with legal, statutory, and internal policies.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience preparing reports and liaising across all levels and with external agencies.
- Ability to build consensus, foster collaboration, and deliver training to strengthen risk and emergency management knowledge and capability across the organisation.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause and business impact analysis, and the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
