Job summary

Archer Daniels Midland Company is seeking a senior Business Development Manager for Health & Wellness in South Asia, starting in India. This techno-commercial role combines country ownership with hands-on development from strategy to closing, aligning local execution with regional and global ADM goals.

The candidate will lead strategy, drive growth across DS, pharma and nutraceuticals, and build a high‑performing team while ensuring regulatory compliance and strong partnerships in the region.

Qualifications

• Science or pharmacy foundation required; MBA preferred for leadership in health & wellness.
• Experience in nutrition, food ingredients, or health & wellness roles.
• Strong network in the nutrition, supplements, and contract manufacturing ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Set and execute the H&W strategy for India in line with regional and global objectives.
• Own the South Asia P&L for revenue, gross margin, and operating profit.
• Read market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to shape go-to-market priorities.
• Drive cross-sell across ADM's health ingredients and enabling ingredients.
• Identify and develop new business with CMOs, brand owners, and key clients.
• Own the full deal cycle from prospecting to close with a strong pipeline.
• Work with technology, platform, and marketing teams to adapt offerings for India.
• Build relationships with customers, distributors, academia, and regulators.
• Build a high-performing team and culture of collaboration and accountability.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and manage business risk for sustainable operations.

Job Description

ADM is seeking a Business Development Manager, Health & Wellness(H&W), South Asia(SA) to build and lead our H&W business, starting in India, with an initial focus on the Dietary Supplement (DS), Pharma & Nutra/Functional foods segments. This is a techno-commercial leadership role that pairs full country business ownership with hands‑on business development, from strategy through to closing. As ADM’s senior H&W representative in the region, the leader will align local execution with regional and global strategy while tailoring it to the market. Success calls for strategic agility, commercial acumen, and the leadership to grow both a business and a team.

Your Responsibilities

• Strategy & Commercial Leadership


• Set and execute the H&W strategy for India in line with regional and global objectives, and own the South Asia P&L for revenue, gross margin, and operating profit.


• Read market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to shape segmentation and go-to-market priorities.


• Drive cross-sell across ADM's active health ingredients (Probiotics, Prebiotics, Postbiotics, Vitamins, Sterols, Isoflavones, Botanicals) and enabling ingredients (Flavors, Colors, Proteins).


• Business Development


• Identify and develop new business across the region, building partnerships with CMOs, brand owners, and key clients as core routes to market.


• Own the full deal cycle from prospecting to close, backed by a strong, well‑managed pipeline.


• Product, Market & Stakeholder Development


• Work with technology, platform, and marketing teams to adapt ADM's DS and Pharma & Nutra offerings for India and localize go-to-market.


• Build strong relationships with customers, distributors, academia, and regulatory authorities, and represent ADM at industry and trade forums.


• Leadership & Governance


• Build a high-performing team and a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability, partnering with HR on talent.


• Ensure compliance with local regulation and ADM policy, and manage business risk for sustainable operations.

Education & Experience

• A science or pharmacy foundation (B.Pharm/M.Pharm, or M.Sc/B.Sc in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Food Science, or Nutrition, or a Food Tech/Biotech engineering degree), postgraduate level preferred. An MBA is strongly preferred; a PhD in life sciences or a medical qualification (MBBS) is an added advantage, especially for the pharma and clinical channels.


• 10+ years in business development or commercial roles across Nutrition, Food Ingredients, or Health & Wellness, or in a CMO/CDMO environment.


• Proven track record of regional coverage and closing deals, with a strong network across the nutrition, supplements, and contract manufacturing ecosystem.


• Solid grasp of the region's regulatory and market dynamics.
