Are you an experienced health promotion leader who sees opportunities, brings people together and knows how to turn good ideas into action?
Ballarat Community Health is looking for a Manager Healthy Communities to provide leadership to our prevention, health promotion and health protection work.
We're looking for someone who is curious about what's possible. Someone prepared to ask "why do we do it this way?", look to the evidence, listen to communities and partners, and find new and better ways to improve health and wellbeing.
This is an opportunity to lead a high-performing team, shape the future direction of our prevention work and build partnerships that create meaningful and sustainable change across our community.
As Manager Healthy Communities, you'll provide both strategic and operational leadership across BCH's prevention, health promotion and health protection work, with responsibility for program delivery, people leadership, stakeholder engagement, governance, budgets and reporting.
But this role is about more than managing what already exists.
We want you to look ahead: to understand emerging health and wellbeing needs, identify opportunities for innovation and growth, and help us continually strengthen the way we work. You'll bring together evidence, data, community knowledge and fresh thinking to develop approaches that are relevant, effective and capable of making a genuine difference.
Partnership is central to the role. You’ll build strong relationships across government, health and community services, education, workplaces, funders and community organisations. We're looking for someone who understands that effective health promotion rarely happens in isolation, and who enjoys bringing people and organisations together around a shared purpose.
You’ll also lead and support an established, high-performing team, creating an environment where people are encouraged to think creatively, use evidence, collaborate and deliver work they are proud of.
You are an experienced health promotion or public health leader who can see the big picture and make things happen.
You're likely to have significant experience leading health promotion and prevention work within community health, local government or a similar setting, together with a strong understanding of public health and the social model of health.
Just as importantly, you will:
