Job description

We Dream. We Design. We Deliver. This is the place where you’ll be hands on. Where new ideas are welcomed and expected. At every level – and in every role – we’re doers and builders. Not Managers and minders.

hummgroup (ASX-HUM) is one of Australasia’s most successful and enduring fintech organisations with a proud legacy of rewriting the playbook for digital spending. We help people buy everything, everywhere, every day. Our product ecosystem of buy now pay later, credit cards, and business financing products has been designed around the core needs of today's shoppers, retailers, and small and medium enterprises.

About the Team

The Financial Planning and Analysis team, sitting within the Chief Finance Office at hummgroup, plays a key role in delivering financial and strategic insights across the organisation. We are a relatively flat organisational structure, and as a member of the team you are accountable for end-to-end responsibility for your area of focus and will need to be flexible and able to take on additional and/or different accountabilities as required.

About the Role

The purpose of this role is to provide flexible, hands-on support across FP&A, including management and external reporting, forecasting, planning and analysis. The role will provide backup coverage across the income and expense workstreams, with a particular focus on financial modelling, system reporting and ensuring outputs are accurate, complete and fit for decision-making. The role will also support investor relations and external market reporting. Working with external system specialists where required, the role will retain internal ownership of business requirements, testing, reconciliations and output quality. This position offers broad exposure across the income and expense sides of FP&A and is suited to a finance professional who combines strong modelling capability with systems awareness and disciplined attention to detail. The successful candidate will be comfortable investigating data issues, validating system outputs, coordinating with external technical specialists and translating financial information into clear analysis for senior stakeholders.

What Does an Average Day Look Like?
Planning, Forecasting & Modelling
  • Support forecasting cycles, the annual budget and strategic planning across both income and expenses.
  • Build, maintain and enhance robust driver-based financial models, with clear assumptions, sensitivities, documentation and quality controls.
  • Support management reporting by validating financial data and ensuring outputs reconcile to source systems and reported results.
Management Reporting & Systems
  • Provide flexible backup and analytical support to the FP&A team.
  • Support month-end management reporting across Group and lines of business, including investigation of variances, reconciliations and timely resolution of data issues.
  • Maintain and improve system reporting outputs (i.e., TM1) by defining business requirements, coordinating changes with internal stakeholders and external specialists, performing user acceptance testing and validating outputs before release.
  • Apply strong attention to detail to ensure system (i.e., TM1) outputs are complete, accurate, reconciled and suitable for management reporting and decision support.
Business Partnering & Decision Support
  • Develop a sound understanding of income and expense drivers and translate them into clear financial analysis and decision-ready insights.
  • Prepare financial models for forecasts, business cases, strategic initiatives and scenario analysis, supporting both FP&A portfolio leads as priorities require.
  • Partner with Financial Control, technology teams and external TM1 specialists to resolve reporting issues and strengthen data quality, controls and process sustainability.
Investor Relations & External Reporting
  • Support quarterly, half-year and full-year market updates by preparing and validating financial analysis, commentary and supporting materials.
  • Draft and coordinate investor relations papers, results presentations and other external reporting materials, ensuring messages are clear, accurate and consistent with reported financial results.
  • Support the external reporting of segment results to the market, including validating segment data, reconciling outputs and coordinating inputs across FP&A and Financial Control.
About You … Skills

You are a versatile and hands-on finance professional who can support both income and expense workstreams as priorities change. You bring strong financial modelling skills, sound accounting fundamentals and excellent attention to detail, together with the systems aptitude to investigate data issues, reconcile outputs, document requirements and test system (i.e., TM1) changes. You are comfortable working with external specialists while retaining ownership of business requirements, controls and output quality. This role is ideal for someone who is curious, detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced fintech environment, contributing to the continued development of financial planning, reporting and decision support.

Skills
  • Strong financial modelling capability, including driver-based forecasting, scenario analysis, sensitivities and business case evaluation
  • Strong attention to detail and a disciplined approach to reconciliations, data integrity, testing and quality assurance
  • Practical TM1 or comparable financial systems experience, including reporting, issue investigation, requirements definition and user acceptance testing
  • Ability to work effectively with external technical specialists while retaining ownership of business requirements, controls and output validation
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the flexibility to support multiple FP&A workstreams and senior stakeholders
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint capability; Power BI experience is desirable.
Qualifications

Relevant tertiary qualifications, ideally complemented by a professional designation such as CA, CPA or CFA

Approximately 4–6 years’ experience across FP&A, management accounting, systems accounting or audit, with practical experience using financial systems and data in a complex business environment.

  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining financial models in a complex business environment
  • Experience with TM1 or a comparable enterprise performance management system is desirable.
  • Strong systems aptitude, data reconciliation and testing experience are essential.
  • Experience coordinating with external system or technical service providers is advantageous.
  • Experience in fintech or another fast-paced, dynamic environment is advantageous.
