Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is expanding its Forensic Technology Services team in Australia. We seek a Manager who will lead end-to-end forensic data lifecycle projects for high-stakes disputes and regulatory matters.

You will guide junior team members, manage client expectations and deliver clear technical reporting. Strong experience in digital forensics, eDiscovery tools, and programming, along with excellent communication skills, travel flexibility, and a hands-on, collaborative mindset are

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in digital forensics, cybersecurity or eDiscovery in a client-facing setting.
• Understanding of EDRM and forensic principles.
• Experience with Nuix, Relativity or similar eDiscovery platforms.
• Experience collecting and preserving data from endpoints, cloud, mobile and social sources.
• Hands-on with forensic tools and scripting in Python, SQL or similar.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end forensic data handling from identification to preservation of digital evidence.
• Scope and perform imaging and data capture on-site and remote across devices and data sources.
• Maintain data integrity with proper documentation and chain-of-custody.
• Manage eDiscovery lifecycle including collection, processing, review and production.
• Provide technical reports and summaries for legal teams and clients.
• Guide client interviews, set expectations and identify risks early.
• Own multiple workstreams and mentor junior team members.

The Team

Within Disputes and Investigations (DI), our growing Forensic Technology Services (FTS) team brings together experienced computer forensics, eDiscovery, data science, cybersecurity and privacy professionals from the world's largest law firms, professional services firms, leading eDiscovery providers, Fortune 500 corporations, and law enforcement and government agencies.

Our expertise spans electronic discovery and disclosure management, digital forensics, forensic data analytics, cyber risk and incident response, privacy, information governance and data compliance.

As a result of continued growth and demand for our services, we are expanding our FTS team in Australia.

Our team includes senior forensic technologists, data analytics, cybersecurity and privacy experts and investigators who share their expertise in conducting investigations, delivering expert witness reports, providing forensic technology services and supporting teams with eDiscovery matters.

How you will contribute

As a Manager in our FTS team, you will support clients and internal stakeholders throughout the forensic data lifecycle, using technology to uncover, manage and interpret data-based evidence in contentious legal, regulatory and investigative situations. Working across complex, high-stakes projects, including disputes, white-collar crime investigations and post-acquisition matters, you will:

• Manage end-to-end forensic data handling, including identification, recovery, processing, analysis and preservation of digital evidence
• Scope and perform forensic imaging and data capture, on-site and remote, from a wide range of devices and data sources (e.g., mobile, endpoint, cloud, social media)
• Maintain data integrity through proper documentation and chain-of-custody procedures
• Manage all aspects of the eDiscovery lifecycle, including the collection, processing, review and production of electronically stored information
• Provide document review and investigation support for external clients and internal teams, including hyperlinked indexes, data extraction and bundling
• Respond to incidents and analyse digital artefacts to uncover user behaviour and system activity (e.g., file manipulation, USB usage, browser history, chat logs, cryptocurrency transactions)
• Draft technical reports and summaries for legal teams and clients
• Guide client interviews and information gathering, set and communicate client expectations consistently, and identify risks and obstacles early
• Own and deliver multiple workstreams simultaneously, and guide and support junior team members

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in digital forensics, cybersecurity or eDiscovery within a client-facing professional services environment
• Understanding of forensic principles and the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM)
• Experience using eDiscovery platforms such as Nuix Discover, Relativity, Reveal or similar
• Experience in forensic collection and preservation of structured and unstructured data from endpoints, cloud platforms, mobile devices and social media
• Hands-on expertise with forensic tools such as Nuix Workstation, Magnet AXIOM, Cellebrite UFED, Cellebrite Physical Analyzer and GetData Forensic Explorer
• Strong analytical skills and experience producing clear, concise, client-ready documentation
• Experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, Python, SQL and C
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Highly organised, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects concurrently
• Bachelor's degree in Digital Forensics, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., SANS, EnCE, CFCE, CCE) are highly regarded
• Willingness to travel as client and business needs require
