Over the coming 5 years we’re investing $1.9 billion to ensure a safe and secure water future for a growing Tasmania, and we will make great steps towards our aspirations of net zero carbon emissions and towards zero waste.

The Role

TasWater is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to oversee the management of its dam infrastructure portfolio. The Manager Dam Infrastructure will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and project managers, ensuring the safety, compliance, and performance of dam assets in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

This role is pivotal in the delivery of dam safety and compliance programs, capital upgrades, and emergency management systems, while fostering collaboration across internal departments and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Dam Infrastructure team to deliver robust dam safety, compliance, maintenance, and emergency management systems.
  • Ensure all dam-related activities comply with Tasmanian Dam Safety Legislation and ANCOLD (Australian National Committee on Large Dams) Guidelines.
  • Oversee the planning, design, and execution of dam infrastructure projects, including upgrades and new constructions.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders, consultants, and contractors to ensure effective project delivery and operational outcomes.
  • Provide strategic and technical leadership on dam infrastructure, ensuring alignment with safety standards, risk frameworks, and financial constraints.
What we're looking for

To be successful in this role, candidates should demonstrate:

  • A tertiary qualification in engineering (civil, structural, or geotechnical preferred), with specialised knowledge in dam infrastructure and safety; or significant relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing technical teams and overseeing complex infrastructure projects.
  • In-depth understanding of relevant legislation, regulatory frameworks, and industry standards.
  • Strong advisory, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Advanced project management capabilities, including experience managing scope, budget, timelines, and risk.
