One of the core objectives of the Reserve Bank of Australia is the provision of secure and reliable banknotes that Australians trust. This is fundamental to maintaining confidence in our currency and supporting the role of cash in an inclusive and resilient payments system.
Note Issue Department is responsible for developing and issuing banknotes that Australians trust. It also works to ensure cash remains a viable means of payment for those who need or want to use it.
The Banknote Strategy and Engagement (BSE) section helps keep Australia's banknotes resilient, accessible, and trusted by the public. We focus on strategic planning, research and analysis, stakeholder engagement, and oversight of design and production to help keep banknotes fit-for-purpose in an evolving environment. Our work includes producing high-quality analysis and collaborating with industry partners, law enforcement, central banks, and accessibility advocates to inform design and raise public awareness. A current flagship initiative is the $5 Redesign Project, celebrating First Nations cultures and history.
In this role, you will lead one of two teams within the Banknote Strategy and Engagement section, contributing to the Bank's banknote strategies through high-quality research and analysis, strategic advice, stakeholder engagement, and oversight of the $5 Redesign Project's governance and reporting.
