Job summary

Western Health in Melbourne's west seeks an experienced leader to head the Aboriginal Health Unit – Wilim Berrbang. You will champion cultural safety, strengthen consumer experiences in healthcare and custodial settings, and guide service improvement across Western Health sites.

You will lead the unit team, provide day-to-day supervision, and shape processes that deliver culturally safe care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait communities.

Qualifications

• Identify and have evidence of being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander origin, with strong community knowledge and connections.
• Demonstrated experience leading and supporting a frontline health or community-based services.
• Deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, cultural safety and consumer experiences in healthcare and custodial settings.
• Proven ability to supervise, coach and support staff working in complex and psychologically demanding roles.

Responsibilities

• Lead, support and develop the Aboriginal Health Unit team across all Western Health sites.
• Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance and escalation support for complex consumer, family and service matters.
• Create, maintain and improve processes and systems that enable best practice service delivery for the Aboriginal Health Unit.
