On behalf of the Board of the Motor Museum of Western Australia, Lester Blades is delighted to invite applications for the position of Manager of this iconic organisation, located in the beautiful Whiteman Park, 16kms northeast of the Perth CBD.
The Museum is home to an impressive collection of vehicles that tell the story of motoring history in Australia and beyond. As the Museum moves into an exciting new chapter, the Board is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager to lead the dedicated team and help shape the future of the Museum.
About the Role
Reporting to the Museum Board, the Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations, strategic leadership, and growth of the Motor Museum. This is a hands-on, multifaceted role that combines people management, budgeting and financial management, community engagement, and operational oversight, with the opportunity to make a lasting impact on one of WA’s most unique cultural institutions.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily museum operations, including staffing, visitor services, and maintenance
Manage and support a team of staff and volunteers
Develop and implement strategic and marketing plans to grow attendance and community involvement
Coordinate exhibitions, events, and marketing initiatives
Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, donors, and the motoring community
Ensure financial sustainability through budget management, grant applications, and fundraising
Uphold compliance with safety and museum industry standards
About You
You’re a natural leader with a passion for heritage, community, and storytelling. You thrive in a collaborative environment, have deep management experience, and are comfortable wearing multiple hats. Ideally, you’ll bring:
Proven leadership and operational management experience (museum or tourism industry preferred)
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Financial and budget management experience
Ability to manage and motivate volunteers
Creative problem-solving and organisational skills
A passion for history, education, and the automotive world is highly desirable
