Job summary

Downer is recruiting a Management Accountant in Adelaide to deliver high-quality financial insights that support informed decision‑making within our Government and Integrated Facilities Management team. You will report to the Finance Manager Accounting Services and play a key role in ensuring accurate reporting and business partnering.

The role requires a CA/CPA qualification, strong management accounting experience, and proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, JDE, OneStream) and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Support accounting activities across support functions including Finance, Strategy & Growth, Zero Harm, People & Culture, and Commercial & Risk.
• Complete monthly P&L reporting, accrual reviews, and balance sheet reconciliations; assist with budgets.
• Partner with functional leaders as a trusted point of contact for accounting support and analysis.
• Review purchase orders and invoices; support statutory obligations such as FBT and GST data collection.
• Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to quality and efficiency initiatives.

We currently have an opportunity for a Management Accountant to join our Government and Integrated Facilities Management team and play a key role in delivering high quality financial insights that support informed decision‑making across our support functions. Reporting to the Finance Manager Accounting Services, you'll help deliver high‑quality outcomes that support our essential services.

What You’ll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:

• Supporting accounting activities across Support functions, including Finance, Strategy & Growth, Zero Harm, People & Culture, and Commercial & Risk.
• Completing monthly P&L reporting, accrual reviews, balance sheet reconciliations, assisting with budgets, to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.

What You’ll Bring

• CA/CPA qualification, with solid professional accounting experience.
• Proven experience in management accounting, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to high‑quality outputs.
• Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, JDE, and OneStream, alongside advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent communication skills, time management skills and the ability to build collaborative, trusted relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
• A curious, positive, proactive approach with the confidence to take ownership while contributing meaningfully as part of a supportive team.
