Makan is seeking an experienced Cook to join our kitchen team in Sydney. You will prepare, season and cook authentic Malaysian dishes to our standards, manage mise en place and maintain food safety throughout service.

The role requires working under pressure, strong knowledge of ingredients and cooking techniques, and the ability to coordinate with the kitchen to deliver dine-in and takeaway orders efficiently.

Qualifikationen

• AQF Certificate III with at least two years of on-the-job training or AQF IV or higher.
• Alternatively, at least three years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with Malaysian or Southeast Asian cuisine is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and as part of a kitchen team.

Aufgaben

• Prepare, season and cook authentic Malaysian dishes to recipes and portions.
• Prepare curries, wok-fried noodles, rice, sambals, sauces and marinades.
• Complete mise en place for meats, seafood, vegetables, herbs and spices.
• Operate woks, grills, fryers, ovens and other kitchen equipment.
• Regulate temperatures and times to maintain flavour and texture.
• Examine ingredients for freshness and suitability.
• Monitor taste, quality and presentation throughout service.
• Portion and plate meals according to menu specifications.
• Prepare meals for customers with allergies and dietary needs.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and temperature control.
• Monitor stock levels and rotate stock to minimise spoilage.
• Check and store incoming deliveries per food-safety procedures.
• Coordinate with kitchen team to prepare dine-in and takeaway orders.
• Clean and maintain cooking equipment and work areas.
