Job summary

Hazeldenes in New South Wales is seeking a hands-on maintenance assistant to support the site maintenance team in keeping plant and equipment safe, efficient and compliant with GMP and safety standards.

You will assist qualified tradespeople with preventative maintenance, repairs, and general housekeeping to minimise downtime and maintain production reliability. This role offers on-site work and opportunities to contribute to improvements.

Responsibilities

• Assist maintenance tradespersons with planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
• Support preventative maintenance activities on the site maintenance schedule.
• Assist with plant breakdowns to return equipment to service promptly.
• Perform basic mechanical tasks under supervision.
• Maintain cleanliness of workshop and maintenance areas in line with GMP and safety.
• Follow LOTO procedures and safe working practices.
• Communicate with production teams to coordinate maintenance with minimal disruption.
• Participate in shutdowns and major maintenance projects.
• Support WHS, food safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Job description

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

To support the maintenance team in ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable operation of plant and equipment at Hazeldenes. The role assists qualified tradespeople with preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and general site upkeep to minimise downtime and maintain compliance with food safety and safety standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist maintenance tradespersons (fitters, electricians, and contractors) with planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
• Support preventative maintenance activities in accordance with the site maintenance schedule
• Assist with plant breakdowns to ensure equipment is returned to service in a timely manner
• Perform basic mechanical tasks under supervision (e.g. component removal, cleaning, lubrication, part replacement, tool preparation)
• Maintain cleanliness of workshop areas, plant rooms and maintenance storage areas in line with GMP and food safety requirements
• Safely use and maintain tools and equipment
• Assist with installation of new equipment and plant modifications as required
• Participate in shutdown activities and major maintenance projects
• Support compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS), food safety, quality and environmental standards
• Follow Lock Out / Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and safe working practices at all times
• Communicate effectively with production teams to coordinate maintenance activities with minimal disruption
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance function
• Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor. Area Technicians or Maintenance Manager.
