Job summary

McHugh Steel Pty Ltd is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Assistant to support preventative maintenance and production tasks in our Queensland workshops. You will help keep machinery and equipment operating safely and efficiently, contributing to the smooth running of our fabrication and construction projects.

The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, ability to use hand and power tools, and good communication.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and good problem solving skills.
• Able to safely use hand and power tools.
• Ability to work within a team and autonomously.
• Physically fit, some manual handling may be required.
• Willingness to complete general hand duties to assist the team.
• Clear verbal and written communication skill.

Responsibilities

• Undertake Preventive maintenance and production tasks.
• Inspect machinery for damage, wear and potential issues.
• Carry out proactive and reactive maintenance and prioritise tasks effectively.
• Use hand and power tools safely and correctly.
• Assist when needed with loading and unloading and housekeeping.
