Job summary

Loco Love in Byron Bay is seeking a skilled Maintenance Team Member to keep our chocolate production running smoothly. You'll join the Maintenance team, report to the Maintenance Engineering Manager, and bring hands-on mechanical, electrical or mechatronics experience to planned maintenance, breakdowns, and fault diagnosis across systems.

You'll support production when idle, work on a weekend roster, and help keep the factory clean, safe and organised while contributing to SOPs and training.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification (mechanical, electrical, plumbing or mechatronics) or equivalent hands‑on maintenance experience.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Confident using hand tools and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters.
• Able to read wiring diagrams, technical manuals and SOPs.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and pride in your work.
• Food manufacturing or FMCG experience is desirable, and chocolate production is a bonus.
• Knowledge of food safety, HACCP and WHS compliance is desirable.
• Comfortable with basic admin, such as logging jobs and using spreadsheets.
• Proactive and calm under pressure, and happy to turn your hand to different tasks.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance on production equipment and machinery.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns, diagnose root causes and get machines back up and running.
• Troubleshoot, fault‑find and repair mechanical, electrical and basic plumbing systems.
• Calibrate and set up machinery, adjust conveyor belts and assemble electrical components.
• Follow food safety and hygiene protocols (GMP, HACCP), including cleaning and inspecting equipment before it goes back into production.
• Log and close out maintenance jobs, and help keep equipment records and spare parts stock up to date.
• Work with contractors on site, making sure they're briefed and can work safely.
• Help write SOPs and train production team members on safe machine use.
• Bring a positive attitude and team spirit to every shift!!

The Role

We're looking for a skilled, hands‑on Maintenance Team member to help keep our chocolate production running smoothly!

You'll join our Maintenance team, reporting to our Maintenance Engineering Manager, and look after maintenance duties across the shift. You'll be a reliable team player with a trade background, whether mechanical, electrical or mechatronics, or equivalent hands‑on maintenance experience.

You'll carry out planned maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and diagnose faults across mechanical, electrical and basic plumbing systems, all while helping keep our factory clean, safe and organised. When there are no maintenance jobs to do, you'll support our chocolate production team, while staying on call for any maintenance needs.

This role includes some weekend work, which is shared on a roster across the maintenance team so there's always coverage.

What You'll Do
