Job summary

GrainCorp in Marong, Victoria, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead a team of tradespeople and contractors. You will coach, plan and deliver preventative maintenance, manage open work orders, and drive continuous improvement with a strong safety culture.

You will have a trade certificate and proven experience as a people leader in an industrial setting, with knowledge of maintenance budgeting and systems such as SAP or MEX.

Qualifications

• Holders of a trade certificate in a relevant discipline with hands-on leadership experience.
• Experience planning and scheduling maintenance activities; SAP or MEX familiarity is a plus.
• Experience supervising teams under an enterprise agreement and interpreting it.
• Strong safety leadership and continuous improvement mindset will be valued.

Responsibilities

• Preventative and planned maintenance: establish schedule, monitor timing and quality, report as required.
• Maintenance: manage open work orders to completion, prioritise by budget and business needs.
• Breakdowns: coordinate response to breakdowns, allocate resources, manage parts supply.
• Budget: ensure maintenance spend aligns with budget and escalate high-cost repairs.
• Continuous improvement: foster a culture of continuous improvement and maintain site maintenance plans.

About the role

Based at our site in Marong we are looking for an experienced people leader to join our team as a Maintenance Supervisor. This role will see you lead a team of permanent tradespeople and contractors. You'll coach and develop individuals as well as role-modelling a culture of continuous improvement and high standards of safety in keeping with GrainCorp's core values.

Specifically, the role entails:

• Preventative and planned maintenance (PPM): establish and monitor schedule, ensuring completion to timeframes / quality; includes regular reporting and completion to budget
• Maintenance: manage open work orders to completion; prioritise jobs to business requirements and budget
• Breakdowns: manage response to breakdowns, especially those impacting service levels; resource allocation; records management; fatigue management during critical breakdown repairs; manage supply of critical parts
• Budget: ensure maintenance spend in line with budget; support for maintenance labour spend; escalates high cost repairs to Maintenance Manager
• Continuous improvement: develop a team culture that ensures continuous improvement is adopted by all maintenance employees; maintain operational and strategic plan for site maintenance.

About you

Our ideal candidate holds a trade certificate in a relevant discipline (electrical, fitting / machining, boiler-making for example) along with solid hands-on experience as a people leader in a commercial / industrial setting. You should also have:

• Experience in planning and scheduling maintenance activities, ideally through known systems such as SAP or MEX
• Experience supervising people operating under an enterprise agreement and ability to understand and interpret same
• Experience or understanding of managing a maintenance budget would be very useful
• Strong continuous improvement mindset and strong safety leadership behaviours will be welcome.
