Job summary

Respect St John's in Wangaratta is seeking a Casual Maintenance Services Assistant to keep gardens neat, pathways safe and buildings in good repair. You'll tackle gardening, handyman tasks and help with safety and compliance.

Flexible casual shifts, a driver’s license preferred, and a chance to make a direct difference in residents’ comfort and quality of life through practical tasks around the site.

Qualifications

• Experience with gardening and general handyman/maintenance work
• Able to work independently with a practical, can-do attitude
• Good attention to detail; keep spaces clean, safe and well presented
• Flexibility to pick up casual shifts, including at short notice
• A current Driver’s Licence
• Experience in maintenance, facilities, property upkeep or similar
• A relevant trade qualification is highly regarded
• Experience in aged care or similar environment desirable
• A current National Police Certificate or willingness to obtain one
• Willingness to meet Aged Care Worker Screening requirements

Responsibilities

• Keep gardens, outdoor areas and pathways neat, safe and welcoming
• Tackle general handyman and maintenance tasks around the site
• Help keep buildings, equipment and communal areas in good condition
• Identify maintenance issues and inform the right people early
• Assist with maintenance and gardening supplies and keep things organised
• Keep maintenance records and schedules up to date
• Support safety and compliance requirements
• Coordinate with contractors when required
• Keep site vehicles clean and ready to use
• Provide occasional on-call support and cover planned leave

What you’ll be doing

• Keeping gardens, outdoor areas and pathways neat, safe and welcoming
• Tackling general handyman and maintenance jobs around the site
• Helping keep buildings, equipment and communal areas in great condition
• Identifying maintenance issues and letting the right people know before small problems become big ones
• Helping with maintenance and gardening supplies and keeping things organised
• Keeping maintenance records and schedules up to date
• Supporting essential safety and compliance requirements
• Coordinating with contractors when required
• Keeping site vehicles clean, organised and ready to go
• Providing occasional on-call support when needed
• Stepping in to cover planned leave and short-notice absences

You’ll ideally bring:

• Experience with gardening and general handyman/maintenance work
