Job summary

Alcoa in Portland, Australia is seeking a Maintenance Planner to maximise maintenance and process effectiveness by planning all scheduled activities before a job starts. You will coordinate people, parts and processes, driving safety and continuous improvement at the Portland Smelter.

The role requires a mechanical or electrical trade background or degree, strong interpersonal skills, and experience with heavy industry maintenance systems.

Qualifications

• Mechanical (Fitting & Turning) or Electrical Trade Certificate or Degree is advantageous.
• Planning experience is desirable.
• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate at all levels.
• Commitment to environment, health and safety.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisation.
• Ability to coordinate multiple project/planning initiatives within maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Develop weekly plans and facilitate planning meetings.
• Support daily planning and ensure timely work execution.
• Ensure availability of people, parts and processes for maintenance.
• Contribute to maintenance efficiency through reviews and improvements.
• Assist in budget preparation, forecasting and maintenance strategies.
• Identify and resolve equipment/process problems and analyze failures.
• Lead planned outages and performance improvement initiatives.
• Oversee mechanical maintenance crews.
