Job summary

Alcoa Australia is hiring a Maintenance Planner for Portland Aluminium Smelter in Victoria. You will maximise maintenance and process effectiveness by planning scheduled activities, integrating manufacturing and financial requirements into a plan, and coordinating across teams.

Qualifications

• Mechanical (Fitting & Turning) or Electrical Trade Certificate or Degree is advantageous however applicants with planning experience desirable.
• Strong interpersonal skills that enable you to establish relationships and communicate with ease, at all levels of the organisation.
• Dedication to environment, health and safety in the workplace and the ability to actively contribute to safety improvement initiatives.
• Excellent attention to detail, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to co-ordinate multiple project/planning initiatives within the maintenance group.
• Experience in heavy industry and the use of computer-based maintenance systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Developing weekly plans and facilitating weekly planning meetings in line with Alcoa planning processes.
• Supporting daily planning processes, making information available to ensure successful work execution in a timely and effective manner as well as capturing outcomes.
• Ensuring people, parts and processes are available for maintenance activities in a timely manner.
• Contributing to maintenance efficiency and effectiveness by participating in reviews of major activities, seeking improvements, reporting on such activities and initiating action where appropriate.
• Assisting in financial budget preparation, forecasting and maintenance strategies; ensuring long-term activity schedules are accurate and up to date.
• Applying problem solving and analysing skills to isolate, diagnose and resolve equipment/process related problems.
• Utilising core operating principles and processes to define failure modes and understand mean time to failure of systems.
• Actively direct and participate in planned outages and performance improvement programs.
• Oversee relevant Mechanical Maintenance Crews.
• Achieve sustained improvements through leadership of the problem-solving process and application of business systems.
