Job summary

Tronox is seeking a motivated Maintenance Planner for the Cooljarloo Mine site in Western Australia. The role drives weekly and shutdown planning, ensuring resources and materials are available and aligned with work orders.

You will collaborate with maintenance, operations and procurement, monitor KPI performance, and maintain CMMS data. Drive safety and environmental compliance while supporting continuous improvement in planning processes.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in a similar role, with focus on planning maintenance activities.
  • Experience in shutdown or turnaround planning is desirable.
  • Proficient with SAP and MS Projects.

Responsibilities

  • Plan weekly maintenance activities and prepare 5-week forward plan.
  • Manage backlog and prioritize critical work.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, operations, engineering, and procurement.
  • Monitor KPIs, resources, and budget; provide updates to stakeholders.
  • Participate in shutdown planning and risk assessments.

About The Role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Maintenance Planner to join the team at our Cooljarloo Mine site, which is just north of Cataby in Western Australia.

Our site is located 2hrs drive / 170km to the North of Perth CBD. This is a Drive-In Drive-Out (DIDO) role where you will stay at our village with meals and accommodation provided during whilst on site. Working a 9 day fortnight (WK1: Mon- Fri / Wk2: Mon - Thurs).

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role will be accountable for:

Weekly planning

  • Proactively plan and estimate maintenance activities, ensuring that agreed resources, equipment for maintenance are available - 5 weekly forward plan
  • Develop and manage a consistent process for planning of all tasks including sourcing and procurement of materials, equipment and labour resources - backlog
  • Prioritise and manage the backlog of work requests to ensure only critical work is being planned
  • Evaluate and challenge the scheduling to optimise planned work efficiencies
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams, operations, engineering, and procurement to gather necessary information and ensure alignment with work orders
  • Monitor KPI’s to track status, resource utilization, and budget adherence.
  • Monitor progress of planning activities on a daily and weekly basis and keep stakeholders updated

Shutdown planning

  • Monitor progress of shutdown activities on a daily and weekly basis and keep stakeholders updated
  • Participate in risk evaluation and safe operation assessments
  • Contractor management and reviewing documentation
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Environmental, OSH and Registered Equipment legislation.
  • Provide reports for management to track project/shutdown status, resource utilization, and budget adherence.
  • Coordinate and manage meetings to optimise the shutdown plans and risks of all activities in the work list
  • A Shutdown should only consist of work that requires a shutdown to be executed

Maintain CMMS

  • Updating MDG tasks as required.
  • Continue maintenance of the CMMS, BOMs, task lists and etc
  • Continue improving of planning process.
About You
  • 5 years+ experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience in a shutdown or turnaround planning (desirable), willing to learn, aim is to rotate shutdowns with Senior planners
  • Experience in using SAP and MS projects
  • Mechanical Trade Certificate or equivalent (desired)
  • Mining, mineral sands, dredging experience (desired)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and industry standards
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
